Public Health England is scrambling to track down a potentially key person who tested positive for the Brazilian variant.
The search for a person who tested positive for the Brazilian variant of Covid-19 is now a top priority for Public Health England (PHE). The individual in question, whose test came back positive for the “P1” strain, failed to provide essential personal details, making it extremely difficult for authorities to trace their whereabouts.
PHE has narrowed down its search to individuals who were tested on February 12 or 13 and did not receive any results. The focus is on tests taken through home postal kits or from local authority collection points, as the individual involved may have neglected to fill out their details properly. Authorities are working with postal and courier services to track down the route of the test and potentially identify the person based on delivery records.
The urgency is partly because the P1 variant is believed to transmit more easily and may reduce the effectiveness of vaccines, heightening concerns about its spread in the UK. Dr. Susan Hopkins from PHE has emphasized that this public appeal is a precautionary measure to ensure the variant does not go undetected.
