Investigation into the tragic incident is ongoing as safety measures are enhanced.
Following a tragic incident on February 25, where a man was run over by a train near Kallang MRT station, concertina coils have been installed at the portal area near the station to prevent further incidents. The man’s body was found approximately 150 meters from Kallang MRT, after being struck by a train traveling towards Pasir Ris on the East-West Line.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was called to the scene at around 9:35 pm that night. Reports suggest that the man had entered the tunnel from a portal area located near Lavender, which is an entrance where trains transition from ground level into the underground tunnel.
In response to the incident, safety measures were immediately implemented, with concertina coils now placed at the portal to deter any further intrusions. Investigations into the incident are still ongoing, as authorities work to understand the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
