‘Nomadland’ dominates the evening with multiple wins, including Best Film and Best Director, while Anthony Hopkins takes home Best Actor.
At the 2021 BAFTA Awards, Nomadland triumphed in multiple categories, securing top honors for Best Film and Best Director, with Chloé Zhao taking home the award for her brilliant direction. The film’s lead actress, Frances McDormand, also won Best Actress for her portrayal of a woman navigating life on the American road.
Anthony Hopkins received the prestigious Best Actor award for his moving performance in The Father, beating out stiff competition from Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal) and the late Chadwick Boseman (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom). The Best Director category saw a highly praised win for Zhao, who led Nomadland to significant recognition.
In other categories, The Trial of the Chicago 7 and Promising Young Woman were also nominated for Best Film but ultimately lost out to Nomadland.
