Police investigation continues after woman’s body was retrieved from the sea, no foul play suspected.
In the early hours of May 7, 2021, the body of a 36-year-old woman was discovered in the waters near East Coast Park, close to the B2 carpark and the fishermen’s boat storage facility. Authorities received a call for assistance at around 4:50 am, and the woman was retrieved from the sea before being pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Initial investigations suggest that no foul play is involved, and the police are continuing their inquiries to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. According to reports, the woman was found dressed in a light-coloured blouse, dark shorts, and carrying a cloth bag. She is suspected to have drowned.
Fishermen in the area were visibly shaken by the incident. A 58-year-old fisherman, who had been out at sea around 5 am, was unaware of the discovery until he returned at 9 am. Disturbed by the news, he chose not to prepare his fish in the same area afterward. Investigations by several police officers were underway at the scene.
