Closure for deep cleaning and to prevent further transmission
A popular coffeeshop in Jurong West, Xin Fa Li Coffeeshop (commonly known as Red Chairs), has been closed with immediate effect after a worker tested positive for Covid-19. The closure, announced by Jurong GRC Member of Parliament Xie Yao Quan on Monday morning (July 19), is aimed at deep cleaning the premises and breaking potential transmission chains.
Stallholders and other workers are currently isolating at home while awaiting further instructions. The Ministry of Health (MOH) has advised patrons to stay alert for SMS notifications regarding possible exposure. If patrons are not alerted but have concerns, they are encouraged to conduct an Antigen Rapid Test (ART) and consult a doctor immediately if symptoms develop.
In his post, Xie expressed his dismay at the situation and emphasized the importance of collective responsibility to prevent the spread of the virus. He urged residents, especially seniors, to get vaccinated to protect themselves and the community, helping build stronger herd immunity.
