“Fire Breaks Out in Corridor Following Prayer Rituals, Damaging Property”
A fire broke out in a Singapore HDB corridor on the evening of September 4, allegedly caused by a neighbour who has been burning incense and performing prayer rituals along the corridor since 2019. The incident was shared by Facebook user Yani Rzk, who posted a video showing the aftermath of the fire.
The video depicted burnt papers and ashes scattered throughout the corridor, some of which were located right outside Yani’s home. Smoke was still emerging from the charred remains, with soot staining the corridor walls. In her post, Yani expressed frustration, stating, “One time complain don’t want to listen, now the whole thing burn already.”
The fire caused damage to property, including Yani’s son’s tricycle, which had been left in the corridor. Parts of the tricycle were visibly melted from the heat. Yani claimed that her repeated complaints about the incense burning had gone unaddressed by the neighbour.
