One was fully vaccinated, while the other had partial vaccination
On September 19, 2021, two elderly Singaporeans passed away due to Covid-19 complications. The announcement, made on September 20, highlighted the vulnerability of older individuals to severe illness from the virus, even when vaccinated.
The first case, Case 74987, involved an 84-year-old male who was fully vaccinated but had a history of heart disease, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. He was admitted to Ng Teng Fong Hospital on September 13 after testing positive for Covid-19 and passing away on September 19.
The second case, Case 77580, was an 85-year-old male who had received only partial vaccination. He was admitted to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital on September 18, following his positive test for Covid-19 on September 16, and passed away on September 19. He had no known underlying medical conditions.
These deaths bring the total number of Covid-19 fatalities in Singapore to 62.
