Man Steals Malaysian Woman’s Bag with Over S$1,000 in Cash from Woodlands Kopitiam

Theft Occurs in Broad Daylight as Bag Left Unattended for a Few Moments

A man was caught on surveillance footage casually stealing a bag from behind the counter at a Kopitiam in Woodlands on January 31, 2022. The incident took place around 4:35 pm at Kopitiam Vista Point. The victim, a Malaysian woman, had temporarily left her bag unattended while she stepped away to change for work.

The man, dressed in a white polo shirt and holding an umbrella, quickly spotted the unattended bag and swiped it without hesitation. The bag contained personal items and over S$1,000 in cash, which the woman had planned to send to her family.

The victim’s boyfriend uploaded the video footage to Facebook on January 27, which quickly gained attention. The brazen nature of the theft, happening in broad daylight, has left the community in shock and prompted calls for greater vigilance in public spaces.
