Tragic Incident Occurs While 18-Year-Old Man Was Moving Goods at Supermarket

An 18-year-old man tragically lost his life after falling down an elevator shaft on April 11, just hours into his first day of work at a supermarket in Bintulu, Sarawak, Malaysia. The victim, identified as Andrew Munding Kuling, was moving boxes while standing on top of the elevator when it suddenly plunged three storeys.

Surveillance footage captured the moment the elevator dropped as Andrew was in the process of handing the last box to a colleague. The elevator’s rapid descent left the colleague helpless, unable to intervene. Andrew, who was positioned on the third floor at the time, suffered fatal injuries, including a broken neck, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency responders arrived around 5:20 PM, but unfortunately, the young man had already passed away, reportedly crushed by the elevator. This tragic event has left the community in shock and has raised concerns about workplace safety.
