Singapore’s First Branch of the American Burger Chain to Close on 13 April
After 20 years in operation, Carl’s Jr’s Marina Square outlet—the first location of the American fast food chain in Singapore—is set to permanently close. The restaurant’s final day of business will be 13 April 2025, as confirmed in a social media announcement on 3 April.
A Farewell to the First Outlet
The company expressed gratitude to its loyal customers, stating:
“It’s been a pleasure serving you, and we look forward to welcoming you at our other locations.”
Despite the closure, three Carl’s Jr outlets will continue operating in The Star Vista, SingPost Centre, and King Albert Park.
Shifting Presence in Singapore
The decision follows the closure of the Jurong Point branch in September 2024, marking another change in the chain’s Singapore footprint.
Carl’s Jr, originally founded in California in 1941, made its Singapore debut in 2005 at Marina Square, with its grand opening drawing attention on 23 June of that year.
At its peak, the chain was a major presence in Singapore’s food scene, including serving as an anchor tenant at VivoCity in 2006 and operating a drive-through at East Coast Park.
With the Marina Square outlet closing, it marks the end of an era for fans of the brand’s signature oversized burgers in one of its longest-running locations.
