Vintage-Inspired Café to Launch Third Branch at Singapore Science Park This April

Great Nanyang expands with outlet-exclusive menu and nostalgic décor evoking Malaysian heritage

Retro-themed café Great Nanyang is gearing up to open its third outlet on 14 April at Geneo, located within the Singapore Science Park. A soft opening was held earlier on 2 April, giving early visitors a preview of its vintage ambience and new exclusive offerings.

Founded by Keith Kang, who also created the Yang Ming Seafood brand, the café draws on culinary memories from Kang’s childhood in Penang, Malaysia. The menu is a tribute to beloved flavours from both Singaporean and Malaysian cuisines.

This new location isn’t just about food—it’s an immersive journey into the past. The interior is filled with retro touches: heirloom-style furniture, antique signage, and nostalgic décor such as old televisions, radios, and colourful umbrellas reminiscent of classic outdoor food stalls in Malaysia.

To set itself apart, the Science Park outlet will serve several exclusive dishes not found at the other branches. Among these is the Fresh Fruit Rojak (S$1.50++ per skewer), offering a selection of vibrant fruits and savoury snacks including pineapple, jambu, mango, cucumber, guava, cherry tomatoes, sengkuang (yam bean), and shrimp crackers—all served on skewers.

Also new are Steamed Buns in six unique flavours, starting from S$3.50++:

Mashed Taro

Peanut Butter

Bak Kwa

Chicken Floss

Otak-Otak

A combo of Bak Kwa and Chicken Floss

Another standout exclusive is the Penang White Curry Noodle (S$8.90++), served in a creamy, coconut-based broth enriched with prawns, tau pok (fried beancurd puffs), fishballs, and a spoonful of fragrant curry paste for extra depth.
