NATO Members May Deploy Troops to Ukraine, Warns Former Alliance Chief

Former NATO Secretary General cautions that countries like Poland and the Baltic states might act unilaterally if dissatisfied with NATO’s commitment.

In a recent statement, former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen warned that certain NATO member countries, including Poland and the Baltic states, might consider deploying troops to Ukraine independently if they feel that NATO is not sufficiently committed to supporting Ukraine.

This warning highlights the ongoing tensions within the alliance regarding the level of support for Ukraine amidst its conflict with Russia. While NATO has provided substantial military aid to Ukraine, the prospect of member states acting unilaterally raises concerns about the unity and cohesion of the alliance.

The situation underscores the complexities of international relations and the challenges NATO faces in balancing collective defense commitments with the individual interests of its member states.
