After 15-Year Battle with Cancer, 22-Year-Old Joel Lim’s Final Wish Was to Raise Charity Funds Through His Artwork

Joel Lim’s Artwork Carries a Legacy of Joy, With His Mother Marianne Lam Honoring His Final Wish

Joel Lim, who passed away in September 2020 after a 15-year fight with cancer, left behind more than just memories—he left a legacy of joy. His final wish was to raise funds for charity using his artwork, a wish that his mother, Marianne Lam, is now working to fulfill.

At just 22, Joel faced numerous challenges, including regular chemotherapy, but he remained positive and creative. His artwork, which carries the simple but powerful message of “Enjoy life,” now takes center stage in his family’s home. Large prints of his art, alongside childhood photos, adorn the living room where Marianne cherishes his memories.

Joel’s cancer journey began at the age of seven when he developed a lump on his hand. Despite his ongoing medical struggles, he found joy in life, travel, and creating art, which his mother is now using to raise money for the Children’s Cancer Foundation.
