Anthony Albanese Declared Winner of Australia’s Federal Election

Despite the Coalition losing power, it’s still uncertain if Labor can secure a majority.

The results of Australia’s 2022 federal election are becoming clearer as counting concludes for the day. Anthony Albanese has officially claimed victory and is set to become the 31st Prime Minister of Australia. In his victory speech, Albanese acknowledged that “the Australian people voted for change” and expressed his commitment to “end the climate wars” while embracing the Uluru Statement of the Heart.

However, while the Coalition has lost government, it remains unclear whether Labor has achieved a sufficient swing in votes to secure a majority government. The election results continue to evolve, with several seats still up for grabs, keeping the final outcome uncertain for now.
