British Volunteer Soldier Killed in Ukraine, Identified as Scott Sibley

Former Soldier Scott Sibley Remembered as a Hero, Family Supported by Foreign Office

A British citizen, Scott Sibley, has been confirmed dead in Ukraine, with reports suggesting he was a volunteer who went to fight against Russian forces. The Foreign Office has confirmed the tragic death and stated that support is being provided to the family. Sibley, believed to be the first British fighter killed in combat in Ukraine, was a former soldier who had previously served overseas.

Tributes poured in for Sibley, with former colleagues describing him as a man who exemplified the “commando spirit” until the end. A Facebook page run by veterans of the commandos logistics support squadron shared a tribute and a photograph of Sibley in his military uniform, taken during his service in Afghanistan.

In addition to Sibley’s death, another British citizen is missing in Ukraine. The Foreign Office is urgently seeking further information, although it remains unclear if the two cases are related. Reports suggest that both individuals volunteered to fight against Russian forces, but this has yet to be confirmed.

Sibley’s family has received an outpouring of support, with tributes also appearing on a GoFundMe page set up to raise funds for them. Many who paid tribute to Sibley through the campaign mentioned their connections with him through the online game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG).
