Britney Spears’ Father Seeks Immediate End to Conservatorship

Jamie Spears requests the termination of the legal arrangement that has controlled his daughter’s life for over 13 years, following her recent testimony.

Jamie Spears, the father of pop icon Britney Spears, has filed a request for the “immediate termination” of the conservatorship that he has managed for over 13 years. In new court documents, a lawyer representing Jamie Spears argued that the conservatorship should end, citing his daughter’s recent testimony in which she expressed her desire for control over her own life and estate.

Jamie Spears stated that there was no reason for the conservatorship to continue, asserting that he had no interest in prolonging it. This comes after Britney’s emotional testimony in June, where she revealed her experience of being involuntarily placed in a psychiatric institution and denied basic rights, including control over her personal relationships and reproductive choices.

Following her testimony, Britney has gained legal representation of her own for the first time, and her new lawyer is advocating for the complete termination of the conservatorship, alongside legal accountability for those involved in its management.
