British National and Singaporean Fiancée Violated Quarantine Rules by Meeting and Booking Rooms in Same Hotel
Skea Nigel, a British national, has pleaded guilty to breaching his Stay-Home Notice (SHN) by leaving his hotel room three times on September 21, 2020. On the final occasion, he was accompanied by his Singaporean fiancée, Agatha Maghesh Eyamalai, who was not under SHN but had booked a separate room in the same hotel.
Skea did not wear a mask when leaving his room, violating regulations set under Singapore’s Covid-19 measures. He was charged under the Infectious Diseases (Covid-19 – Stay Orders) Regulations 2020 and the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) Act 2020. Agatha, who had aided Skea in breaching the rules, also pleaded guilty to abetting the violations.
The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) confirmed on January 15 that the couple would face charges in court for their offenses.
