Minister of Law Condemns Dishonest Behavior, Plans to Address Issue in Parliament
Minister for Home Affairs and Law, K. Shanmugam, has condemned the actions of several trainee lawyers who were found to have cheated during their Bar exams, describing the behavior as “completely unacceptable.” Speaking to the media at a fundraising event organized by The Thaarumaaru Runners for the Singapore Indian Education Trust on April 30, Shanmugam emphasized that “dishonesty is an absolute no-no,” particularly in the legal profession.
The issue has raised concerns regarding ethics and integrity in the legal community, and Shanmugam confirmed that questions surrounding the matter will be raised in Parliament. The cheating incident has sparked public outcry, highlighting the importance of maintaining high standards of honesty and professionalism in law.
