A Nostalgic Journey Back to Where Their Marriage Began
A couple who famously took the MRT to their wedding in 1987 recently revisited the scene, recreating the moment 28 years later. This unique memory is part of the National Museum of Singapore’s exhibition, showcasing personal stories from Singaporeans.
In an unconventional twist, the couple, dressed in their wedding attire, rode the MRT to their church ceremony, accompanied by family and friends. At the time, Singapore’s MRT system was newly constructed, making their journey both symbolic and memorable.
In 2015, to celebrate SG50, the couple recreated their iconic photo, this time with the groom holding a small bouquet. The image, originally featured in The Straits Times, has since been shared by the National Museum, sparking fond memories among many Singaporeans of their first MRT experiences.
The couple’s story remains a heartfelt reminder of how ordinary journeys can become extraordinary milestones in life.
