A rare glimpse into the raw side of nature, captured by a local photographer.
Singapore may be known for its urban landscape, but nature often reminds us of the wildlife thriving nearby. On January 23, William Ko experienced this firsthand at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, where he witnessed a crocodile devouring a Malayan water monitor.
Ko documented the dramatic encounter through a series of photos, which he later shared in the Facebook group Nature Society (Singapore). The images captured the crocodile basking in the sun, teeth bared, as it prepared to consume its prey.
The spectacle highlights the biodiversity preserved in Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, one of Singapore’s key conservation areas. These glimpses of wildlife serve as a reminder of the delicate balance between urban development and nature in the city-state.
