Cupra Relaunches in Singapore with New Electric Models

Spanish performance brand introduces the Cupra Born and Tavascan to the Singapore market, with a new showroom at Alexandra Road.

Cupra, the performance brand originally from Spain, has officially made its return to Singapore, unveiling two new electric models at a lavish event on Orchard Road on March 14, 2025. This marks the brand’s re-entry into the local market, along with the opening of a new showroom located at 247 Alexandra Road. The relaunch follows the transfer of Cupra’s distributorship to Volkswagen Group Singapore (VGS) in 2023, after previously being represented by Vertex Automobile.

Cupra was originally created as the performance division of Spanish automaker Seat, with the name “Cupra” derived from “Cup Racing.” It began producing road-going performance models from the late 1990s. In 2018, the Volkswagen Group decided to establish Cupra as an independent brand, and its first bespoke model, the Formentor, launched in 2020.

The two models launched in Singapore are both electric vehicles (EVs), showcasing Cupra’s commitment to performance in the electric era. The first model, the Cupra Born, is an electric hatchback based on Volkswagen’s ID.3, a popular EV in Europe. The Born will be available in two variants: the e-Boost model, offering 231hp and a driving range of up to 428km, and the higher-performance Born VZ, which generates 326hp and a range of up to 599km. Only three units of the Born VZ have been brought into Singapore, making it a limited-edition offering.

The second model is the Cupra Tavascan, a crossover SUV competing against rivals like the BYD Sealion 7, Xpeng G6, and BMW iX2. The Tavascan comes in two variants: the base Endurance model, which produces 286hp and offers a range of 568km, and the more powerful Tavascan VZ, with 340hp and a range of 521km.

Pricing for the Cupra models is competitive, with the Born e-Boost starting at $195,900, while the Born VZ is priced at $225,900. The Tavascan Endurance is available from $209,900, while the Tavascan VZ retails for $229,900. These prices include the Certificate of Entitlement (COE) and position the new Cupra models as great value in the electric performance vehicle segment.
