The heated argument escalated when the customer became frustrated by the S$3 minimum order at a Bedok chicken rice stall.
A dispute over a S$3 minimum order led to a bizarre scene at a chicken rice stall in Bedok on May 5, where a customer threw a plate of chicken back at the stallholder. The incident occurred at 56 New Upper Changi Road during dinner time, with the altercation captured on CCTV footage shared on Facebook.
The video, which was later posted by the stall, shows a tense three-and-a-half-minute exchange between the customer and the stallholder. The stallholder, armed with a chopper and busy preparing chicken, was engaged in a heated conversation with the customer, who was frustrated at not being able to place a S$2 order. Although the audio was muted, their animated gestures and exchange of words were visible, with two patrons from the coffee shop stepping in to try to defuse the situation.
After several moments of back-and-forth, the customer, visibly upset, grabbed the plate of chicken that had been served to him and hurled it back at the stallholder, causing a chaotic scene.
