Easing of Restrictions Amid Rising Vaccination Rates and Stable COVID-19 Situation
Starting from August 10, Singapore will allow fully vaccinated individuals to dine in at Food and Beverage (F&B) establishments, with groups of up to five people, as part of the country’s gradual easing of COVID-19 restrictions. This decision follows the completion of two doses for around 70% of the population by August 9, alongside stable infection numbers and no significant rise in severe cases or deaths.
Under the new guidelines, only fully vaccinated individuals will be allowed to dine-in, with establishments required to ensure that their diners meet vaccination criteria. F&B outlets that cannot verify vaccination status will be limited to providing take-away and delivery services.
In its press conference on August 6, the Multi-Ministry Taskforce (MTF) indicated that these changes will allow more activities to resume, while still maintaining a “calibrated, risk-based approach.” The government will continue to differentiate between vaccinated and unvaccinated people for safe management and border measures.
Vaccinated individuals are defined as those who have received the full regimen of Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty, Moderna, or WHO EUL vaccines and allowed two weeks for full effectiveness, as well as those who have recovered from COVID-19.
