Dozens Killed in Pakistan Train Collision, Over 100 Injured

At least 45 dead and up to 100 injured after two express trains collided in southern Pakistan.

A tragic train accident in Pakistan has claimed at least 45 lives and left more than 100 people injured. The collision occurred in the early hours of the morning in Ghotki, Sindh, when the Millat Express derailed at around 3:30 am, and the Sir Syed Express crashed into it minutes later.

The wreckage caused severe devastation, with passengers trapped inside overturned and crushed carriages. Local residents rushed to the scene to assist in rescue efforts, and heavy machinery was brought in to cut open the wreckage. The military deployed troops and helicopters to help with the operation, but the chances of finding more survivors were diminishing as the hours passed.

Umar Tufail, the police chief in the area, mentioned that efforts were focused on rescuing those still trapped. However, the death toll continued to rise, and the situation remained dire. Over 1,100 passengers were aboard the two trains, with the most critically injured being airlifted to nearby hospitals.
