Quick reflexes prevent a potential tragedy near Gongshang Primary School
A potentially dangerous situation was averted in Tampines when a driver braked hard just in time to avoid hitting two children who dashed across a pedestrian crossing. The incident occurred on March 9, around 4:50 p.m., at a traffic light-controlled crossing along Tampines Avenue 7, near Gongshang Primary School.
The driver was approaching the green light, which gave vehicles the right of way. As the car approached, one of the two girls, wearing a white outfit, had already stepped onto the road but managed to pull back just in time upon noticing the approaching vehicle. The second girl, wearing a red outfit, remained on the sidewalk, halting herself from crossing.
Both girls safely retreated back onto the sidewalk after the driver successfully stopped the vehicle. This close call follows a previous similar incident where a child was nearly struck by a car after running onto a pedestrian crossing along Bencoolen Street.
