Despite his impressive ability to recognize 200 flags, Ezac Lim’s parents say he’s not a “genius”—just a curious and playful child.
Ezac Lim, a 2-year-and-11-month-old toddler from Singapore, recently made headlines for becoming the youngest person in the country to identify 200 flags of countries and territories, accomplishing the feat in just 7 minutes and 33 seconds. However, his father, Lim Li Wei, is quick to downplay the idea that his son is anything extraordinary.
Lim emphasizes that Ezac’s incredible ability is not a result of rigorous training or forced learning. Instead, it stems from Ezac’s natural curiosity and self-driven interest in flags and maps. “We didn’t force him — it just came naturally. Now it’s the other way around — he forces us to teach him,” Lim shared.
In a visit to their home, it became clear that while Ezac is incredibly knowledgeable about flags, he is, at heart, a typical toddler—enthusiastic, playful, and full of energy. His parents don’t view his accomplishments as evidence of a “genius,” but rather as the result of his innate interests and excitement for learning.
Lim expressed his initial skepticism when he first heard about Ezac’s achievements, wondering if it was a case of overly ambitious parents pushing their child to excel. However, after seeing Ezac’s genuine passion for flags and maps, he realized that it was simply a reflection of Ezac’s curiosity.
Ezac’s unique skill may be impressive, but his parents are clear: he is just a regular toddler with a love for learning.
