German Man Investigated for Getting 90 Covid Jabs to Sell Fake Vaccination Cards

A 60-year-old man is under investigation for forgery after allegedly receiving multiple Covid vaccinations to create and sell fraudulent vaccination records.

A 60-year-old man from Magdeburg, Germany, is under investigation for allegedly receiving up to 90 Covid-19 vaccinations in order to sell fake vaccination cards to individuals who chose not to get vaccinated. The man, whose name has not been released due to German privacy laws, is said to have visited vaccination centers in Saxony over several months, collecting shots from different vaccine brands to create authentic-looking vaccination records.

The investigation began when police caught the man attempting to get a second shot at a vaccination center in Eilenburg, Saxony. Police confiscated multiple blank vaccination cards from him and launched criminal proceedings for issuing documents without authorization and document forgery.

While it remains unclear how the repeated doses of different vaccines affected the man’s health, the practice of acquiring and selling fake vaccination records has been a growing concern in Germany. The country has seen several raids related to forged vaccination passports, particularly from Covid-19 vaccine refusers who still sought the benefits of vaccination cards, such as access to public venues and workplaces.

Despite the ongoing pandemic, many Covid-related measures were relaxed recently in Germany, though wearing masks is still required on public transportation. The country is seeing a decline in daily infections after the latest surge linked to the BA.2 omicron subvariant, with 74,053 new cases reported on Sunday, down from a peak of 111,224 earlier in the week.
