Australia’s health authorities are probing the case of a 48-year-old woman who passed away after developing blood clots following a Covid-19 vaccine, though experts suggest the connection is rare.
Health officials in Australia, including the national medicine regulator and New South Wales health department, are investigating the death of a 48-year-old woman from Lake Macquarie, NSW. She reportedly developed blood clots shortly after receiving the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine.
The woman, who had a history of diabetes, received the vaccine last Friday and began showing symptoms the following day. She was soon placed on dialysis. However, according to Chief Medical Officer, Professor Paul Kelly, the woman had received her vaccine several days before her illness began. Sadly, she passed away on Wednesday.
Experts indicate that while the occurrence of blood clots following the vaccine is concerning, it remains an exceptionally rare event, and it would be unusual for the jab to be the sole cause of her death.
