A migrant worker in Singapore has received widespread praise for his heartwarming act of kindness after helping an elderly woman safely cross the road. The gesture, which was entirely voluntary, was caught on video and shared by the local community group ItsRainingRainCoats (IRR), an organization that advocates for migrant workers’ rights.
The video, which quickly went viral, shows the migrant worker patiently assisting the elderly woman at a pedestrian crossing along Pasir Ris Drive 1. In the post shared by IRR, the organization expressed its admiration for the worker’s caring nature, noting that despite the challenges migrant workers often face, they continue to show compassion toward others.
“We are not surprised at all when we see our migrant brothers being caring and compassionate, no matter what hardships they themselves may be facing. We this video,” the organization wrote in their post.
The act of kindness has since sparked positive reactions, highlighting the often-overlooked contributions of migrant workers to the community.
