More Than Half of 52,000 Eligible Students in Singapore Book Covid-19 Vaccination Appointments

Students aged 12 to 18 are being prioritized for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine in the national vaccination drive.

As of June 1, over half of the 52,000 students eligible for Covid-19 vaccination in Singapore have successfully booked their vaccination appointments. The Ministry of Education (MOE) announced that these students received SMS invitations for vaccination, with a priority given to those taking O-, N-, and A-Level exams or equivalent qualifications this year.

The vaccination effort for students is part of Singapore’s broader strategy to keep educational institutions and the wider community safe. On May 31, it was revealed that students aged 12 and above would be the next group to participate in the national vaccination campaign, which officially began on June 3, 2021, with over 400,000 students targeted for the vaccine.

To ensure safety, vaccination appointments are only available at sites offering the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. MOE emphasized that vaccinating students is a critical step in limiting the spread of Covid-19, providing them with peace of mind and protection for their families and communities.
