New Simplified Safe Management Measures Announced, Including Non-Compulsory Safe Distancing

Up to 5 Household Visitors and Relaxed Safe Distancing in Mask-On Settings

On February 16, Singapore’s Multi-Ministry Taskforce (MTF) unveiled updated Community Safe Management Measures (SMMs), aimed at simplifying the previous complex rules. In response to the evolving Covid-19 situation, the new guidelines are designed to focus on five key measures that will make it easier for the public to understand and adhere to.

The latest updates include the removal of compulsory safe distancing requirements between individuals or groups in all mask-on settings, though safe distancing is still encouraged. Additionally, the limit on the number of household visitors has been set at five people at any given time, making social gatherings easier to manage.

These changes come as part of Singapore’s ongoing efforts to streamline its Covid-19 response while maintaining safety and reducing transmission risks. The taskforce has emphasized that these measures will help in transitioning towards living with Covid-19 in a more manageable manner.
