Ong Ye Kung Applauds Singapore’s Progress in Controlling Covid-19

Health Minister commends residents for their efforts as cases continue to drop after three weeks of heightened restrictions.

Singapore’s Health Minister Ong Ye Kung has praised the public for their role in controlling the spread of Covid-19, urging continued vigilance as the country sees promising signs of improvement. In a Facebook post on June 6, Ong highlighted that the proportion of unlinked Covid-19 cases has dropped significantly, from 22% to 15%, since the start of Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) on May 16.

Ong also shared that the total number of weekly cases has decreased steadily, with figures falling from 182 to 136, and then to 116 over the past three weeks. This progress, he noted, was a testament to the collective efforts of Singapore’s residents in adhering to the stricter measures. The minister encouraged everyone to “keep it up” as the country moves in the right direction towards managing the pandemic effectively.
