Passers-by Create Innovative Rescue Tool to Save Cat Stuck in Singapore Canal

Using an Umbrella and USB Cable, Six People Collaborate to Save the Stranded Animal

In a remarkable display of resourcefulness, six passers-by in Singapore teamed up to rescue a cat stuck in a canal behind the Jalan Besar Community Club on February 21. After several unsuccessful attempts using a dustpan and a fishing net, the group quickly devised a makeshift solution.

The rescue was captured on video by Jessica Tse, the wife of one of the participants. She and her husband were at the community club for their son’s vaccination when they noticed the struggling cat just before 6:30 pm. A man had already been trying to rescue the animal with an extended dustpan, but it kept slipping off, and another attempted rescue with a net also failed.

Determined to help, the group decided to tie an umbrella to a long stick using a USB cable, creating a contraption that was finally successful in reaching the cat. With this clever device, they managed to lift the cat out of the canal, ensuring its safety.
