PM Lee to Address Nation on Covid-19 Situation and Transition to ‘New Normal’

Speech on October 9th to discuss current Covid-19 trends and future steps for Singapore’s recovery.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will deliver a speech to the nation at 12pm on Saturday, October 9, to address the ongoing Covid-19 situation and outline the country’s path toward a “new normal.”

In his Facebook post, PM Lee reassured Singaporeans that there was no need for panic-buying or changes in daily routines, encouraging the public to “carry on as per normal.” The speech will be broadcast live on his Facebook page and across all Mediacorp channels.

The Covid-19 case numbers have been on the rise in recent weeks. On September 24, the Multi-Ministry Taskforce (MTF) announced tighter restrictions, including limiting social gatherings and dining-in to two persons. These measures were initially set to be reviewed after two weeks.

As of October 7, the Ministry of Health reported 3,483 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of cases to 116,864.
