Russia Accuses US and Ukraine of Biological Weapons Plot at UN

Alleged Plan to Use Migratory Birds and Bats to Spread Disease Raises Concerns of Russian Biological Weapon Deployment

At the UN Security Council, Russia has made serious allegations against Ukraine and the United States, claiming they are plotting to use migratory birds, bats, and insects to spread biological pathogens. The accusation, delivered by Russian ambassador Vasily Nebenzya, has raised alarm among other council members, who fear it could be a pretext for a potential Russian biological weapons attack.

Nebenzya warned that such a plot could have dire consequences for Europe, as the spread of biological agents from Ukraine’s western border could put the entire continent at risk. He also cited concerns over radical nationalist groups in Ukraine collaborating with US defense agencies on dangerous pathogen research.

The claims have been met with skepticism, with some speculating that Russia may be setting the stage for its own use of biological weapons.
