SAF Commander to Be Disciplined for Scolding Man Over Mask Use

The incident occurred when the commander was seen not wearing a mask properly while addressing National Servicemen.

The Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) has announced that a Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) commander will face disciplinary action after an incident in which he scolded a man who asked him to wear a mask properly. The commander, who was seen not wearing his mask properly while giving instructions to full-time National Servicemen (NSFs) near Pasir Ris MRT on July 26, allegedly kept the mask down for about half an hour.

A post shared by Ivan Ho on the Complaint Singapore Facebook group detailed the incident, where the man approached the commander’s colleague, also wearing a mask, urging him to set a good example by properly wearing his mask. Despite the other commanders at the scene wearing their masks correctly, the SAF commander reportedly scolded the individual for pointing out his improper mask use.

MINDEF has stated that the commander will be dealt with, as this behavior is not in line with the expected standards for military personnel.
