Health Ministry’s Update Reveals Rising Cases, Including Senior Citizens
As of October 18, 2021, Singapore has confirmed 2,553 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the total to 150,731 cases nationwide, according to the Ministry of Health (MOH).
Along with the surge in cases, six more individuals have tragically passed away due to complications from the virus. The victims were Singaporeans aged between 78 and 93 years old, with four men and two women among the deceased. Four of them were unvaccinated, one had received partial vaccination, and one was fully vaccinated. All of them had pre-existing medical conditions.
The death toll from Covid-19-related complications in Singapore has now reached 239. Among those who passed away in the past 28 days, 25.5% had been fully vaccinated, while the remaining 74.5% were either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.
Today’s new cases consist of 2,008 community infections and 544 from migrant worker dormitories. Among the community cases, 359 were seniors over the age of 60. Additionally, one imported case was reported.
