Singapore Shortens Stay-Home Notice for Travelers from High-Risk Areas to 14 Days

Ministry of Health Finds No Longer Need for 21-Day SHN After Reviewing Covid-19 Variant Incubation Data

Starting at 11:59 PM on June 23, Singapore will reduce the Stay-Home Notice (SHN) duration for travelers arriving from higher-risk regions, cutting the requirement from 21 to 14 days. This decision follows the Ministry of Health’s review of global research and local case findings, revealing no evidence that Covid-19 variants have longer incubation periods, although they are more transmissible.

Previously, travelers from most countries, except those like Australia, Brunei, Hong Kong, Macao, Mainland China, and New Zealand, had to serve a 21-day SHN at designated facilities since May 7. However, the Ministry of Health has concluded that the extended period is unnecessary as the incubation period for all 270 imported cases between May 8 and June 22 was within the standard 14-day period.

Affected travelers currently in SHN will be notified about changes to their arrangements, and additional details about refunds will be provided in due course.
