Telok Blangah Resident’s Love for Birds Turns Corridor into Mini Aviary
For 54-year-old Rudy, pigeons—especially the elegant fantail variety—have been a lifelong fascination. Outside his HDB flat at Telok Blangah Rise, he has set up 12 cages housing a total of 22 pigeons, three chickens, and three roosters.
His passion for birds began with just two fantail pigeons, which he purchased for S$300, and a pair of rescued chickens that were in poor health. “I took them in because they wouldn’t survive on their own,” he explained.
Over time, his hobby expanded, with a special fondness for fantail pigeons, a breed known for its distinctive fan-shaped tail and docile nature. Despite the challenges of maintaining his growing collection, Rudy remains dedicated to his feathered companions, cherishing their presence in his daily life.
