Seven-Year-Old’s Death Follows Multiple Throws During Training; Coach Charged
A seven-year-old boy from Taiwan tragically passed away on Tuesday, June 29, after being in a coma for 70 days. The boy, identified as Huang, lost consciousness halfway through a Judo lesson where he was thrown to the ground 27 times by his coach, leading to severe injuries.
Huang’s parents made the heartbreaking decision to remove him from life support after doctors at Fengyuan Hospital observed significant drops in his blood pressure and heart rate.
The Judo coach, identified by his surname Ho, has been charged with physical assault resulting in serious injury, as well as using a minor to commit a crime. Ho was detained in April after the incident and was later released on bail on June 5, which sparked anger from Huang’s mother, who was upset by the coach’s release while her son was still “fighting for his life” in the hospital.
