Bangladeshi Nationals to Remain in Custody for Three Weeks for Mental Health Assessment
Two Bangladeshi men, aged 30 and 36, have been remanded for psychiatric observation following allegations of raping a 32-year-old woman at Pioneer Road. The incident is said to have occurred between 12:30 am and 2:20 am on March 8, beneath the Tuas viaduct near the Tuas West Road MRT station.
Both men, identified as Ahmed Rayhan and Alam Foysal, were remanded at the medical center of Changi Prison Complex for a period of three weeks, as ordered by the district judge. They are set to return to court next month for further proceedings.
The men were previously held for one week to assist with ongoing investigations. During the court hearing, they appeared via video link from their remand, with a Bengali interpreter assisting them. While Foysal had legal representation, Rayhan appeared without a lawyer.
