Winter Storm Leaves Millions Without Power, Claims 21 Lives Across the US

Record-Breaking Cold and Dangerous Conditions Continue as Storm Moves North-East

A powerful winter storm has swept through large parts of the central and southern United States, bringing life-threatening cold, widespread power outages, and at least 21 confirmed deaths. The extreme weather has set new records for low temperatures and is expected to continue as it moves toward the North-East.

Texas has been hit hardest, with over 4 million homes and businesses left without power amidst freezing temperatures. The storm has also caused significant outages in other regions, including parts of Appalachia, where more than 250,000 people lost power. In Mexico, nearly 4 million residents are also without electricity, and the ice storm in north-west Oregon has left another quarter-million people in the dark.

Officials are warning of treacherous travel conditions as icy roads and subzero temperatures create hazardous conditions across the affected areas.
