Xiao Yao Ge Eatery in Jurong East Shut Down for Breaching Safe Distancing Rules

Four F&B Outlets Ordered to Close and 131 Individuals Fined Over Safety Violations

Six F&B outlets and 131 individuals were penalized for violating Safe Management Measures (SMMs) during inspections on January 22 and 23. Among them, four establishments, including Xiao Yao Ge in Jurong East, were ordered to close for 10 days due to repeated breaches.

According to the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE), Xiao Yao Ge was found seating different groups of diners less than one meter apart, marking its third offense. The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) mandated its closure from January 28 to February 6.

Another notable case involved Main Entrance in Chinatown, which violated multiple regulations, including allowing gatherings exceeding eight individuals, failing to conduct temperature checks, and permitting customers to give speeches—actions prohibited under current Covid-19 rules.

These actions highlight stepped-up enforcement to ensure compliance with SMMs in F&B premises, malls, and public spaces, aimed at curbing the spread of Covid-19.
