In the wake of a devastating attack on civilians fleeing the Kyiv suburb of Irpin, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has vowed to punish those responsible for the atrocities. The shelling resulted in the deaths of eight people, including a mother and her two children, who were trying to escape the violence of the Russian invasion.
In a passionate address, Zelenskyy condemned the attack, promising that those responsible would face “a day of judgment.” He warned Russian troops that the “only quiet place” awaiting them would be the grave. “We will not forgive hundreds and hundreds of victims, thousands and thousands of sufferings,” he declared, as outrage continues to grow over the escalating violence against civilians.
